Overview of position
Access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene is among the fundamental and basic human rights. Unfortunately, Afghans still have a long way to go and get access to this right. Over 30% and 35% rural inhabitants do not have access to at least basic water supply and sanitation services respectively, while 11.4% still defecate in the open (IE&LF 2020). Under 5 child mortality stands at 50/1,000 live birth (NHS 2017). Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation & Development along with its sector partner has put all its efforts to attain the SDGs for WASH by provision of WASH services, coordination, policy development and implementation of the WASH projects. UNICEF as one of the main technical and financial supporter for the WASH sector has remained the core supporter for MRRD, MoPH and MoE and has been backing up the unit (Ru-WatSP) in the country and continuing its assistance under various circumstances.

Water Supply Unit of Ru-WatSP has been the backbone of the program and gained several years’ experience in project life cycle, designing and implementing small, medium and large projects at the rural communities, schools and clinics throughout the country. Ru-WatSIP and the Water Supply Unit having different technical branches and provincial NTAs has been using different approaches and technologies to provide the rural people of Afghanistan safe drinking water and the latest technology is Solar Pump Pipe Scheme, which is cost effective and sustainable among the others. Water Supply unit with the help of different donors especially UNICEF through implementation of different projects in almost all the provinces has been trying to contribute in overall WASH goal and attaining the SDGs.

Role objectives
The cleaner should be able to come 2 hours before for his duties and leave the office late of all staff.

Be able to work beyond office hours. The cleaner shall conduct cleaning activities, provide support to Ru-Watsip team and visitors.

Report on duty according to the office prepared duty roster.

Cleaning the office rooms including vacuum cleaning, desks, chairs, windows, windows mesh and office equipment

Ensure to response to the staff members in case of any needs related to the job.

Prepare tea/ Coffee and bring lunches for staff when required.

Maintenance and lean all cleaning equipment utilized.

Keeps office room floors, surfaces, furniture, walls, doors, windows, carpets cleaned and hygienic way.

Any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Senior Staff Management.
