- Candidates from Africa, Asia, and Latin America are especially invited to apply, as are those who encounter obstacles to pursuing education or leadership roles due to their race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, sexual orientation, or any other factor.
- International attorneys should apply for the J.D. degree, the first degree in law, rather than the LL.M. if they plan to permanently live and practice law in the United States. It’s not a requirement to have an LL.M. from Columbia Law School to get into the J.D. program.
- You are primarily advocates because you are attorneys. For this reason, Columbia Law School requires the best TOEFL score possible. they want you to participate and perform at a level that is comparable to that of your classmates who are native English speakers both within and outside of the classroom.
- Candidates must show that they have experience working on international human rights issues and that they are dedicated to a career in human rights practice or academics.
