Job Description

Org. Setting and Reporting:

This position is located within the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), with duty station in Kabul. The Field Security Assistant reports directly to the Deputy Chief Security Officer (DCSO) through the Supervisor of Security Admin and Support. S/he will assist with the management of all mission-wide security support issues related to the Integrated Security Section. He/she will also support during the implementation of the Security Plan; assists with the preparation of the Training courses and related presentations for the Admin and Support unit.

Responsibilities:

The Field Security Guard reports to the Deputy Chief Security Officer on all issues related to activities within the Security Administration and Support. Major duties and responsibilities: • Provides support to the DCSO and the Supervisor of Admin and Support in the management of all security support issues related to the Integrated Security Section in Afghanistan. • Provides general administrative support services in order to assist the Security Officers fulfill their duties vis-a-vis staff members and their dependents. • Assists with data consolidation and dissemination of relevant security information required for the analysis of the security situation by the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Deputy Chief Security Officer (DCSO) and Security Officers; • Assists the Security Officers in the Security Operations Branch with the preparation of any security related documents including Security Plans, MORSS, MOSS, regular reports and any other reports related to the security section activities as well as providing the Operations Branch units with administrative assistance; • Drafts correspondence and maintains records for the Security Training Courses delivered to security and field mission’s personnel; • Provides support during the implementation of the Security Plan under the directions of the Chief Security Officer; • Assists in reviewing the logistics requirements and other related actions required for the preparation of training courses, drills and other security exercises; • Monitors and facilitates the implementation of security policies and procedures in close coordination with the security operation unit’s supervisors and others; • Provides support in organizing and conducting security awareness and preparedness activities, and provides security orientation to newly assigned staff members, as well as conducting security briefings, as required; • Assists with the preparation of the Induction Training courses, related presentations and documents; • When and if required, prepares security presentations for the DCSO and the Security Officers in other units. • Any other duty as required by the DSCO and or the Supervisor of the Admin and support unit.

Work Experience
As per the approved special measure for UNAMA, a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of security services with a military, security support functions, police, private security company or any international organization is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to one for the candidate who possess a first-level university degree or higher n social science, public administration, international relations. Experience of working in Security Administration as focal point for support functions and supply is desirable Prior experience of serving in the security component of an international organization as a compound supervisor is required Excellent knowledge of inventory/asset management and logistical processes is desirable

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and Pashto or Dari languages is required
