Job Description
The Erasmus+ Scholarship program is currently accepting applications for master’s programs in big data management and analytics. For students having a Bachelor of Science degree (or the equivalent level of 180 ETCS), there is an English-taught course called the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree Program/EMJMD in Big Data Management and Analytics (BDMA). Applying to the program requires having English proficiency equivalent to level B2 on the CEFER and a major in computer science.
Students are encouraged to become members of a network of academics and experts in Big Data (BD) and Business Intelligence (BI). The program will be supported by academics from partners across the globe as well as partners from the top BI industries, including government agencies, private R&D firms, and service providers. Partners will also train students and supply computers, software, course materials, and opportunities for job placement or internships.
BDMA is joint imitative from the following universities:
- Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium
- Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Spain
- Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), Netherlands
- CentraleSupélec (CS), France
- Università degli Studi di Padova (UniPD), Italy
This consortium will prepare graduates to respond to today’s professional issues through a strong connection with industry needs and pursue their studies into Ph.D. programs through strong links with researchers’ and innovators’ perspectives.
The Master’s degree program is in four semesters of 30 ECTS each. Students learn the fundamentals of BI and BD in the first year. The first semester at ULB aims to regulate students’ backgrounds by introducing them to key BI competencies such as traditional data administration, business process management, and data analytics.
Benefits of the Erasmus+ Scholarships:
The Erasmus+ program offers EU-funded scholarships to students chosen by consortia, with two types of scholarships available.
Scholarships for students from Programme Countries include:
- Costs of participation: up to 4,500 euros per year
- Travel expenses: €1,000 per year
- Subsistence costs contribution: 1,000 euros per month for the duration of the BDMA program (maximum of 24 months)
The scholarship for students from Partner Countries consists of the following components:
- Costs of participation: up to 9,000 euros per year
- Travel expenses: 2,000 or 3,000 euros per year, depending on whether the student is a resident of a nation less than or more than 4,000 kilometers from Brussels, the BDMA program’s organizing institution.
- The installation fee of 1,000 euros
- Subsistence costs contribution: 1,000 euros per month for the duration of the BDMA program (maximum of 24 months)
- All scholarship holders will get insurance that meets the Erasmus+ program’s basic insurance standards for JMDs.
Notes:
- Subsistence costs contribution will not be given to scholarship holders for periods of the BDMA program (study, research, internship, or thesis preparation) spent in the student’s home country, nor to scholarship holders from a Partner Country for periods of the BDMA program spent in any Partner Country that exceed three months.
- The scholarship amount is payable via bank transfer.
- The consortium will directly take the participation costs, which include tuition fees. The remainder of the scholarship will be distributed to the selected students as follows:
- Two yearly installments, each covering half of the travel expenditures.
- One installment of 1,000 euros covers installation charges for students from Partner Countries.
- Subsistence expenses are payable in 24 monthly installments of 1,000 euros.
