Job Description
Gates Cambridge 80 Scholarship 2024 at University of Cambridge
Applications for Gates Cambridge Scholarships at the University of Cambridge will open soon in 4th September 2023 for the academic year of 2024/25.
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program was launched thanks to a donation of 210 million USD made by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in October 2000. 80 full scholarships are made available each year by the Gates Foundation to help students from all around the world pursue their master’s or doctoral degrees at the University of Cambridge. Students from the US will receive 25 scholarships, while students from other nations will receive 55. A total of two thirds of the scholarships will go to PhD candidates.
There are at least 250 scholars and students from different countries studying at Cambridge University. 1700 students have already graduated and joined the alumni network of Gates scholarship.

For NON-US Applicants:

- Scholarship Offer Notification:Â 29 March 2024

For US Citizens:

Benefits of the Gates Cambridge Scholarship
Applicants will benefit from the full cost of studying at Cambridge. It also provides additional, and discretionary funding.
- Maintenance allowance of £20,000 for 12 months at the 2023-24 rate – PhD Scholars are funded for up to 4 years.
- The Host University fees
- One round trip airfare (economy class)
- Inbound visa costs and immigrant health surcharge
Additional funding:
- Academic development funding £500-2000 to attend conferences and course
- Family Allowance of £11,604 for the first child and £16,548 for two or more child as per 2023/24 rate
- Fieldwork
- Maternity or Paternity funding
- Hardship funding
Field of Study
Applicants can apply for any field offered by the University of Cambridge
Fields not eligible to apply for:
- Any Undergraduate degree, like BA (undergraduate) or BA affiliated (a second BA)
- Business Doctorate (BusD)
- Master of Business (MBA)
- Master of Finance (MFin)
- MASt courses
- PGCE
- MBBChir Clinical Studies
- MD Doctor of Medicine degree (6 years, part-time, Home students only)
- Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)
- Part-time degrees other than the PhD
- Non-degree courses
Eligiblity Criteria for Gates Cambridge Scholarship
Applicants who fulfill the following requirements can apply:
- Have citizenship of any country other than the UK
- Apply to one of the following postgraduate course at the University of Cambridge:
- PhD (full-time or part-time*)
- MLitt (full-time)
- One year postgraduate course (full-time), with some exceptions – see below

Required Documents
Applicants of Gates Cambridge scholarship should prepare the following documents:
- CV/Resume
- Research proposal for Ph.D. applicants only
- Two academic reference
- Gate Cambridge References in addition to the two academic references
- Gate Cambridge Statement
- Personal Statement (Max 3000 Characters- around 500 words): writing your reason for applying to the Gates Cambridge Scholarship and how you meet the minimum criteria of this scholarship.
Application Process
Applicants need to apply for admission and scholarship via the Graduate application portal of the University of Cambridge and fill but the admission and funding section.
