Job Description
The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) says it is moving current and former local staff out of Afghanistan with their families.
It has said it will also help staff from other organizations that the German government has identified as at risk to leave Afghanistan.

However, according to GIZ, this support is primarily conditional on the German government confirming that they are allowed to enter the country.
It has also announced that it will be responsible for the transfer of these people from private flights (charter flights) to visa interviews, Covid 19 tests and their temporary accommodation in Germany.
The German Agency for International Cooperation says it has helped more than 5,000 Afghans flee Afghanistan since the fall of the previous government in mid-August.
About a month ago, the German Foreign Minister said that there were still 15,000 people in Afghanistan who had been approved by Germany.
Analna Burbok added that 135 German nationals are still in Afghanistan and new exit routes are being explored.
He added that providing a targeted exit for these people is a top priority for the German government.
Since the Taliban came to power in August 2021, more than 10,000 people have fled the country with German help, with 5,300 evacuated by military means.
