Job Description

The United Nations Internship Program 2023–2024 in Geneva, Switzerland is now accepting applications. Apply right away for a Human Resources Internship with the UN in Geneva, Switzerland. The United Nations Office in Geneva will employ the chosen interns. There are several internships available in various locations. Candidates may apply from anywhere in the world. The intern reports to the Human Rights Officer in the designated work unit from Geneva, Switzerland, and works under the general supervision of the Chief of Section. The internship assignment must be completed for a minimum of three (3) months initially, with the possibility of renewal for a total of six (6) months with the supervisor’s additional consent.

The Office of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is the Secretariat Department in charge of enhancing international human rights mechanisms, combating impunity, strengthening accountability and the rule of law, integrating human rights into development and the economy, expanding the democratic space, and providing early warning and protection of human rights in times of conflict. Eligibility Criteria:

Education

Business or Public administration, Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Commerce, Law, or related fields

Work Experience Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.

Note:

This internship is an UNPAID and full-time engagement that provides a framework through which students from diverse academic backgrounds gain exposure to the work of the United Nations by way of their service within Secretariat entities.
Applicants should have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations with a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter and have the demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs – which includes a willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
